      On June 12th, 1997, London witnessed a theatrical rebirth as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre officially reopened its doors. This new Globe, a meticulous reconstruction of the original Elizabethan playhouse where many of William Shakespeare’s works premiered, stands approximately 750 feet from the site of the first Globe. Queen Elizabeth II herself presided over the opening ceremony, marking a momentous occasion for theatre lovers and history buffs alike.
